Hit The Road

NCM Proposal & Treatment

Project Type: Lead Editor

Project Title: Hit the road

Logline: In this series Matthew teaches how to maintain your car from checking your oil to things like washing your car scratch free this series is aimed at first time drivers and for people who are just unsure.

Target Audience: I am going to be editing this tv show to suit the audience of people ages 17-30 years old or just people that are interested in cars.

Rating: The rating of hit the road would be a pg because of some mild language. But I'm planning to edit most of it out and the bloopers episode is going to be a 12 rating as it will show some of the raw footage which hasn’t got much editing.

Genre: Lifestyle, factual, documentary

Themes: car, car maintenance, how to

Similar films/tv/inspo for editing styles:

Top Gear and The Grand Tour – The close-up and post-visual effects that are edited into the show making it look very seamless and makes us as viewers more interested. The shots where the editors zoom into what's happening in the background make it look seamless.

Post-visual effects: there will be some post visual effects. I will be editing these in with graphics. These will be like social media tags and some messages that will pop up on the screen.

Colour grade: The Colour grade for this series will be in colour possibly a slight bit of editing of it will be needed depending on the weather and lighting on the day of the recording.

Quality/format: The format will be Digital on to a SD Card. using the best camera or DSLR available preferably at 4K resolution, however 1080p HD resolution will be the minimum. I will then use this footage to edit it into 9:16 and 21:9 ratios for youtube and tiktok.

Editing style: My editing style is going to make any cuts look seamless and flow between scenes. I will not be using any cut scenes I will be making sure that my footage won't be jumpy. I will work with the graphics team to make sure any graphics needed for post-visual effects are needed. I’ll also be making sure that I send some raw footage to the director so that he can have a say on anything I need to change. My goal for this production is to make sure that the viewers are interested and not bored whilst watching. I’ll also be working closely with the sound directors so I will be able to edit the intro to the series so that the viewers know what they’re watching. I’m going to cut the video to 3 minutes long.
