Final Evaluation Of Hit The Road And The Short Film
When i started both these projects, my main aim was to develop my filming and editing skills that were good enough to produce both a short film and an episode of a car series. When reflecting on this project as a whole, my filming and video was very much a success as the directors on both producers liked my style of filming and editing. It also follows the conventions I identified in my genre of editing and filming.

Overall I found that my planning was alright but it could've been better. In hit the road I should've spoken to the camera team to talk to them about what kind of camera angles I was looking for. However, the intro i produced with the graphics team turned out perfect and exactly what the producer was looking for. However, it could've been better quality but that's due to the graphics designer not giving them to us, but I should've spoken to him about it before.

When I went out with Nina to film her production of Imaginary Soulmate, I found my planning was also very good. When we first went out and shot the first scene, my paperwork meant I missed no shots out and I achieved everything I had planned on filming that day. I also set up the camera efficiently and got the shots fairly quickly, meaning we had time to look back on the footage and refilm if needs be. After gaining feedback however, I found that I should've shot a couple more shots as you could hear people talking in the background or cars going past in some of the shots we re filmed which we missed when we looked over the footage on site. This meant we had to refilm these shots as they were unusable.

When completing my research I definitely made sure to keep the things I would be looking into were relevant to my projects. Luckily, I had a bit of knowledge before producing these projects but when completing my research I made sure to keep it all relevant to my project so I looked at camera angles and editing styles I knew I was going to use in the projects. Even then when reflecting on my work, even though it is important to keep the research relevant, its also important to have a broad understanding of the topics you are working with.
This cinematography and editing project really helped me develop a number of skills, including the in depth planning I had to complete in order for filming and editing to go smoothly. I will definitely take these skills forward as I know the positive impacts it has on my production work.
In summary this project was definitely a massive learning curve for me, from using new equipment to learning about how to use premier pro as efficiently as possible. I could've improved this project with small details, but with all the feedback I received I was able to implement the vast majority into the final edit. Overall, this project has helped me build on my film making and editing skills, both of which are essential skills for the media industry.
